The 19 Inch Rack System PMS-RACKSYS

PMS-RACKSYS is a 3HU rack system for up to 32 Euro Cards. The special feature of PMS-RACKSYS is that all euro cards are equipped with the fast 32 Bit microcontroller ARM Cortex M4, also all IO cards. In this ways meassurement and control algorithmns can be execured in direct proximity to the sensors and actors. The parallel processing on all intelligent cards offers in this way optimal realtime features and in addition the best possible functional safety. All cards communicate via the "democratic" CAN Bus, where anybody can communicate with everybody. All sensor-, actor- and calculated data are globally available in realtime via the backplane CAN bus for all cards in the rack.

The PMS-RACKSYS offers a great number of excellent highlights:
* All IO cards are intelligent. The on board ARM Cortex M4 microcontrollers preprocesses all sensor and actor data. In this way a top realtime capability of the system is created. PMS-RACKSYS is complimenting its functionality with the PMS-StandOS realtime operating system and configurationtools for PMS-StandOS, the IO cards, UDS diagnosis and DTC error memory.
* PMS-RACKSYS has efficient realtime busses on its backplane and on the frontside to the outer world. In this way all IO data in for example Volt, Ampere and degree Celsius are available as real time diagnose data for all other IO cards and for the outer world. For example can the duty cycles of PWM signals in this way be modified in realtime.
* 8 synchronisation signals enable up to 8 synchronised measurement and control applications. The wired-or signals features for all RACKSYS cards both the active setting as well as the reading of the sync signals and the reaction via interrupt. For functional safety applications two alarmsignals are available.
* The mainboard is responsible for the communication to the outer world and for the communication to the IO cards via the backplane. The 1 megabyte flash memory offers the possibility for extensive applications. For the communication to the outer world 3 interfaces are available:
- Industrial Ethernet with a very high baud rate
- A very fast realtime CAN bus
- An USB interface for the direct PC connection
* The graphical PMS-FB2 editor enables the programming in the IEC-61131 Function Block Language. The further programming options are the relatime language C, flow chart with PMS-FC2 and decision table with PMS-DT2. Further graphical programming languages are under development.
* PMS-RACKSYS is excellently fitted for blackbox system tests. Test specifications written in Doors or MS-Excel can execute the PMS-UDSMacro diagnose macros, which via the CAN bus control the IO cards of the PMS-RACKSYS. All analog and digital IO cards and the PMS-RACKSYS-ConnectionTester cards can in this way be controlled in real time. The testprogram runs MS-Excel, controlled by the MS-Visual Basic Macros from PMS-UDSMacro.
* The relais card PMS-RACKSYS-ConnectionTester can for test purposes generate the following errors on 8 digital or analog IOs:
- Broken wire
- Short to ground
- Short to VCC
* For all SUBD connectors at the front side the interface-plug-on-modules PMS-IO-INTERFACE are available, to enable the easy interfacing of all IO data by the bolted connections of PMS-IO-INTERFACE.
